Mission

It is the mission of St. Michael’s Academy to teach and share the traditions of the Roman Catholic faith and promote academic excellence within a safe and nurturing environment that welcomes and respects individuals of all backgrounds, cultures, and faiths. In partnership with parents, we guide students to develop their fullest potential as responsible citizens of the world, instilled with a strong set of moral values, a sense of service, and a love of learning.

History

St. Michael’s Academy was created in 2009 when the Springfield parishes of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart, Our Lady of Mount Carmel, Holy Cross, Holy Name, and Our Lady of Hope merged their elementary schools together to form St. Michael’s Academy.

Since its inception, St. Michael’s Academy remains a strong and unified Catholic elementary school, setting the gold standard for education in grades preschool through grade 8. Located on the grounds of the former Holy Cross School and serving Springfield and the surrounding communities, St. Michael’s welcomes students and families from all backgrounds, cultures, and faiths into an inclusive community.

Its mission is to focus on educating each child as an individual – spiritually, academically, creatively, physically, and socially, resulting in the formation of the “whole” child. Of utmost importance is the advantage of combining faith with education as students develop their own sense of self; learning strong moral values, character, leadership, compassion, and respect. Our caring faculty creates a safe and welcoming environment and ensures that each student is equipped with the necessary skills for mastering the next grade level.

The result is a confident graduate who has a solid foundation for life and is ready to take on the challenges of high school, college, and life beyond the classroom.
