|Emergency Closing/Delay Policy|
All decisions regarding closings or delayed openings will be made by Superintendent of Schools.
Closings or delayed openings will be communicated via an automated telephone call to each student's home. Therefore, it is vitally important that parents and guardians keep their contact information up-to-date.
Generally, St. Michael's Academy follows the lead of officials from the Springfield Department of Public Works to make the decision that warrants either storm-related or emergency school closing or delayed opening time. Individual schools do not have the authority to make such decisions for storm-related or emergency closings.
Announcements will be posted on WWLP-Ch. 22 and/or on ABC/40.
Students are not to be brought to the Academy for the Before or After School Program or at regular opening time if the Academy has been delayed for one or two hours. There will be no staff member at any campus to admit children into the building or to supervise them in such circumstances.
